The camera:
Nikon Coolpix P310. Compact enough to fit in my trail vest or backpack but with plenty of features to make take some pretty rippin' photos. I use a soft case around it to protect from occasional falls, and I would probably break my face before I landed on my camera.
Photo editing:
Adobe Lightroom, but I'm pretty much a monkey with a tool using it.
Where I learn:
Google+ and trying it, usually with terrible results.
