fast enough

You are fast enough.

Right now.

Not when you can run sub 8 minute miles or a 4 hour marathon or whatever time goal you might have decided for yourself.

Right now.

Because in the end, our running should bring us joy, not pain. Confidence, not shame. It should improve our lives, not just give us one more thing to work harder at.

There are runners who feel that the only race worth running is the one you can win. Let that be their burden, not yours.  Anyone with courage to step up to the start line is worthy of our respect. Period.

Some days I may run fast. Some days I may run slow. But every day I run I am going to do my best to accept that for that day, I am fast enough.

  1. I like this, and the Shakespeare quote too - slow and steady wins the race!
